George Walton Lucas Jr., born on May 14, 1944, is an esteemed American filmmaker and philanthropist. He is widely recognized for his creation of the iconic Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, as well as for establishing Lucasfilm, LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and THX. Lucas served as the chairman of Lucasfilm until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2012.

Lucas teamed up with another ace  director Steven Spielberg, he co-created, produced, and co-wrote the Indiana Jones films Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), The Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989), and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).

Additionally, Lucas served as an executive producer in name only on The Dial of Destiny (2023). Throughout his career, Lucas has maintained a fruitful partnership with composer John Williams, who was recommended to him by Spielberg. Together, they have worked on all the films within these franchises.  Lucas has also produced and written a diverse range of films and television series through Lucasfilm from the 1970s to the 2010s.

As part of the deal, George received $2.21 billion in cash and was granted 37 million shares (37,076,679) of Disney stock, valued at approximately $50 per share at the time.
